OSferion60-Bone void filler-

Device Description

OSferion60 is a bone void filler which is composed of high purity beta-tricalcium phosphate.
In addition to the characteristics of OSferion (porosity 75%), OSferion60 increases the initial compression strength by reducing its porosity.
This improvement of initial compression strength enables OSferion60 to be press fitted to the defective parts.

Features

SEM image

  • High purity beta-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP)
  • Good biocompatibility
  • Replaced by patients own bones
  • Approx. 60% porosity
  • High initial compression strength average of 20 MPa (in-house data)
  • Grafting with a press-fit can be available
  • Macro pores and micro pores
  • Optimal pore diameters for good bone in-growth
  • Interconnection pores structure allows for a good cell infiltration

Indications

OSferion60 is indicated to be gently packed or placed into bony voids or gaps of the skeletal system (i.e. the extremities, spine and pelvis) that are not intrinsic to the stability of the bony structure. Following placement in the bony void or gap, the calcium phosphate scaffold resorbs and is replaced with bone during the healing process.
